C U R R I C U L U M  A N D  P R O G R A M S

CORE CURRICULUM: The Windsong Montessori School provides the highest quality individualized Montessori education, and uses a detailed and carefully structured academic curriculum developed by the Albanesi Educational Center. This academic curriculum is used in Montessori schools throughout the United States and in many other countries around the world.

CULTURAL CURRICULUM: The children learn in depth about the world around them. Learning about different countries, cultures, sampling a variety of foods, listening to music from around the world and getting to know each other are very important as we have closer contact with distant lands.

FIELD TRIPS: During the year all the children explore what the city has to offer, Trips to the Symphony, Science Place, museums, and many other adventures await the children.

GYMNASTICS: A wide variety of gymnastics is available for every age group. Formal gymnastics classes are given several times a week. The children work on coordination and muscle strength, stretching, and gymnastics skills.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION: Formal classes are given several times a week to build stamina and strength. Skills such as running jumping, skipping, ball handling are just a few of the many things they do.

FOREIGN LANGUAGE: Spanish lessons are offered to everyone. Formal group lessons allow the children to hear the language and participate in cultural activities. Individual lessons allow the children to work independently on vocabulary.

ART: The children are exposed to the art of many lands and from distant times. They use many different media to express themselves. They are encouraged to be creative and original.

SOCIAL: The children are taught in a respectful, peaceful environment. They are encouraged to treat each other with respect, have personal responsibility, good sportsmanship, and behave toward each other with sensitivity, tolerance, and kindness.
